What are the specifics of your educational background?

I received my Bachelors of Business Administration with a Concentration in Marketing at Boston University’s School of Management. After working in youth development at The Hyams Foundation, Inc. and leading mission-based multicultural advertising initiatives at Argus, I decided to pursue a Masters in Business Administration at Northeastern University in 2009. During this time I did a full-time Co-op at Proctor & Gamble. After graduating I worked at Hasbro, Staples and most recently at Dunkin’ Donuts in the fields of Marketing, Advertising, and Global Product Development. I am now the Assistant Director of Marketing Graduate Programs at Northeastern University’s College of Computer & Information Science.

What are the key aspects of your role at Northeastern?

Within my role at Northeastern I manage the Marketing for the Graduate Programs at the College of Computer & Information Science which includes work on the website, print, communications, promotions and events. The work I am doing is diverse and multi-faceted. The opportunity to work in particular on the Align MS Computer Science program drew me to the role. I work with a talented cross-functional team to help diversify the computer science field and create opportunities for students with a variety of educational backgrounds.

What’s the most compelling thing to you about the research/work that goes on at the College?

Computer science is integral to every day life. Scientists, doctors, students, government organizations, etc. all use computer science to perform every day critical tasks. At CCIS, I have the unique opportunity to contribute to this field.

Where did you grow up/spend the most defining years of your childhood?

I grew up in Boston, Massachusetts. My parents emigrated here from the Dominican Republic and as a child I spent my summer and winter vacations visiting family there and further developing my Spanish speaking skills. I am bilingual and bicultural and can speak, read and write Spanish fluently.

What led you to work in your field and/or study at your college?

I have felt very fortunate to grow up in such an amazing educational city like Boston. The city has allowed me to work in a variety of areas including corporate marketing, advertising, non-profit, and philanthropic fields. Having obtained my MBA at Northeastern I feel very fortunate to work, learn and continue to develop professionally at the University.
