Jim Dinneen is the Director of Industry Partnerships at the Northeastern University Cybersecurity and Privacy Institute, where he works with companies, research institutions, laboratories, and government agencies to build relationships and develop a better understanding of today’s cyber challenges.
Prior to his role at Northeastern, Jim served as the Chief of Staff for the Private Sector Office at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He also served as Acting Assistant Secretary for the Private Sector, advising the Secretary of Homeland Security on business perspectives and capabilities on topics including cybersecurity, transportation security, and trade security.
Jim served as the Director of Boards and Commissions in Presidential Personnel at the White House, and he served as the Special Assistant to the General Counsel at the U.S. Department of Commerce. Jim has also held roles as the Deputy Executive Director of Priorities USA and as New England Deputy Finance Director for Obama for America.
He received his BA from Hamilton College and is currently pursuing his MS in Cybersecurity Policy and Governance. He and lives with his wife, Jacklyn and son in Duxbury, Massachusetts.
