Education

  • BA in Biology and Theater, Oberlin College

What are the brief specifics of your educational/career background?

I graduated this past May from Oberlin College with my BA in Biology and Theater. During my time there, I worked for Undergraduate Admissions as an interviewer and admin assistant. I moved to Boston this past June and currently live.

What are the key aspects of your role at Northeastern? What do you enjoy most/find most interesting about what you do?

As an Admissions Assistant, I split my time between reading and processing applications and responding to prospective student inquiries. I enjoy getting to know students through the lens of their applications.

What’s the most compelling thing to you about the research/work that goes on at the College?

I’m really enthusiastic about CCIS’ ongoing efforts to continue diversity and inclusion work in terms of recruitment and admissions. I think it’s incredibly important to be aware and proactive about addressing inequalities in the field of Computer Science.

Where did you grow up/spend the most defining years of your child/young adulthood?

I grew up in a town outside of Cleveland, OH with my parents, sister, and grandparents.

What led you to work in your field and/or study at your college? Any reason in particular why you opted for those particular schools/careers (family history, a program you were excited about, a city you were dying to live in)?

I’ve always loved science, especially genetics and microbiology! In addition, I’ve been a musician and performer for many years, and theater has been an especially rewarding experience. I ended up at Oberlin because of my desire to be in a place rich with social activism and a huge breadth of opportunities and a diversity of student experiences.
