The power of your degree

The American healthcare system is undergoing dramatic changes around the integration of technology in patient care, with many advancements driven by health informatics professionals. Yet as a rapidly evolving field, there is an acute shortage of qualified talent to meet market needs.

The ALIGN MSHI program, a collaboration between CCIS and the Bouvé College of Health Sciences, offers the knowledge and skills to successfully integrate systems, improve workflow, enhance clinical decision-making, and make a real difference in the quality and effectiveness of healthcare delivery. This degree will prepare you to:

  • Understand how information technology, people, health, and the healthcare system interrelate
  • Use information technology and information management concepts and methods to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes
  • Communicate effectively among healthcare practitioners, administrators, and IT professionals, and understand each group’s needs and constraints

Real-world experience

The MSHI program’s capstone project provides an opportunity to integrate classroom knowledge with real-world challenges. Capstone projects consist of practical work and research in a major area of health informatics with the goal of making an active contribution to the field. Recent capstone project employers include:

  • Partners HealthCare
  • Verisk Analytics
  • Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare
  • Tufts Medical Center
  • Humedica
  • Steward Health Care System
  • Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center
