Education

  • Master of Management, Cambridge College
  • Bachelor of Arts in Economics, University of Massachusetts, Boston

What are the specifics of your educational/career background?

I earned my Master of Management from Cambridge College, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Workforce Development from Northeastern University. I achieved my BA in Economics from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

What are the key aspects of your role at Northeastern? What do you enjoy most/find most interesting about what you do?

I teach students the skills they will need to succeed in their professional lives, as well as develop relationships with employers and students. I most enjoy teaching the co-op seminar.

What’s the most compelling thing about the research/work that goes on at the college?

I am most compelled by creating opportunities for students to improve their careers and lives.

Where did you grow up or spend your most defining years?

I was born and raised in Bosnia and Herzegovina. I immigrated to the US in 1996 as a refugee after the four-year long war ended.

What led you to work in your field? Any reason in particular why you opted for those particular careers?

I spent my first five years in the US helping refugees and immigrants to find their first jobs in the country. I then spent eleven years advising and helping urban young adults to continue their college education.  At the same time, I was working on my degrees. There are two reasons why I chose this career: one, I love guiding young adults through the process of choosing their career paths; and two, I love working with the population that CCIS serves.
