Richard Lynch is a part-time lecturer at Northeastern University with over 20 years of experience in health plans that serve commercial and government markets. Richard has an extensive background in health plan senior management and he specializes in network development, contracting, pharmacy benefit management, and clinical/medical management.
Richard is currently serving as Executive Vice President and President Northeast Region of Beacon Health Options. Beacon is the national leader in behavioral health management services.
Previously, Richard served as the Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of CeltiCare Health Plan of Massachusetts, a subsidiary of Centene, which pioneered an innovative coverage initiative with the Massachusetts Health Connector, and Celtic Insurance Company, which was the managed health care company’s vehicle for its national Health Exchange insurance products. In both positions, he led efforts to create groundbreaking products designed to achieve increased access to health insurance and value to members, providers and policymakers.
Prior to Centene, Richard served as the Vice President of Health Care Management for WellPoint, Inc., the nation’s leading health benefits company located in Manchester, New Hampshire. While there, he was responsible for the health care management of northeast states Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Maine, directing their medical management, contracting, provider relations, and quality activities across all commercial and government products.
Before joining WellPoint, Inc., Richard spent 11 years at Tufts Health Plan working as their Vice President of Network Management & Operations, their Assistant Vice President of Network Contracting and Performance Management, and their Director of Network Development and Contracting. He also managed operations at the The Prudential Insurance Company of America, and worked in the inpatient renal transplant unit and multi-disciplinary Intensive Care Unit as a staff nurse for The Children’s Hospital in Boston.
Richard has a Master’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Health Care Management from Boston University, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Lowell.
