What are the brief specifics of your educational/career background?

I graduated with an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California and started my career as a Product Engineer in Silicon Valley. After working in the engineering and management consulting industries for a couple of years, I made a career transition to Higher Education. Prior to CCIS, I worked for the College of Engineering at Northeastern University as a Student Services Advisor and advised MS and PhD students in the department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering.

What are the key aspects of your role at Northeastern? What do you enjoy most/find most interesting about what you do?

My current role involves teaching a co-op preparation course to undergraduate students; advising and preparing students for a successful co-op search; and working with employers to develop new co-op opportunities.

I really enjoy working with students to help them achieve their professional goals. I love watching my students succeed and hearing about their co-op experiences.

What’s the most compelling thing to you about the research/work that goes on at the College?

I am very fascinated by the cooperative education program at CCIS. Co-op program allows students to alternate semesters of academic study with employment in the desired field, providing them with an opportunity to integrate their classroom learning with real-world experiences. Students not only develop skills and experience in their field of interest but broaden their perspectives as future professionals.

The impact that the co-op program and advisors have on a student’s intellectual and professional growth is extremely powerful.

Where did you grow up/spend the most defining years of your child/young adulthood?

I was born and raised in a city in north India. Having spent my early childhood years with my grandparents, I learned my defining values from my grandmother. Some of my best childhood memories are of the times I spent with my friends and playing with my dogs, Alpha and Snoopy.
