What are the specifics of your educational/career background?
I hold a BS in Psychology from Providence College and a MS and CAGS in School Psychology from Northeastern University. After spending a few years working in public schools as a school psychologist, I made the switch to business and worked in HR and recruiting for a startup recruiting firm that focused on the biotech and pharmaceutical industries. From there, I transferred my recruiting experience to higher education and began working in cooperative education at Northeastern in 2013.
What are the key aspects of your role at Northeastern? What do you enjoy most about what you do?
In my role as an assistant cooperative education coordinator, I work with students to prepare them for what are often their first steps in their professional careers – specifically to find co-ops and success on the job. I teach a one credit co-op preparation course and work with students individually to coach them through the job search process and support them while on the job. In addition, I manage our relationships with employers who have engaged in the co-op program. I truly enjoy observing student growth as they move from having little to no experience to gaining confidence and perspective after completing their co-ops.
What’s the most compelling thing to you about the work that goes on at CCIS?
From my perspective, CCIS has such a supportive community atmosphere for students. I am always interested in the work that goes on around supporting student success in everything from academics to co-ops to extra-curricular activities.
