What are the specifics of your educational/career background?

I received my Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga. Subsequently, I attended graduate school at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where I earned master’s degrees in both environmental science/ecology and student affairs in higher education. After initially focusing on several research projects, including work with statistical modelling of species-area relationships and research on re-productivity in prairie voles, I shifted my focus to teaching and education in the STEM fields.

What are the key aspects of your role at Northeastern? What do you enjoy most about what you do?

I focus on promoting academic success for CCIS students; this includes offering academic advising and instructing sections of CS 1200. I appreciate working with creative thinkers in the combined majors at CCIS. This reflects my understanding that no subject discipline is truly isolated from any other discipline. Interdisciplinary studies exemplifies the vitality of computer and information science in daily life.

What’s the most compelling thing to you about the work that goes on at CCIS?

The quality of the research and teaching in CCIS continues to impress me. The standards are high in our college, and this insistence on excellence drives everyone to excel.
