Jim Miller holds a PhD in computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In his over 30 years in the computer science field, he’s worked on a wide variety of projects, including source code debuggers, operating systems, electronic mail, parallel processing, programming language design and implementation, and big data processing. He has worked in academia—at MIT, Brandeis University, and Northeastern—and industry, at companies including Digital Equipment Corporation, Microsoft, and Google. In his spare time, Miller enjoys bicycling and hiking, and was once a professional opera singer. He still enjoys singing, especially with the Seattle Gilbert and Sullivan Society.
