Education

  • M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration, Northeastern University
  • BS in Psychology, Northeastern University

What are the brief specifics of your educational/career background?

I completed both my BS in Psychology and M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration at Northeastern University. Prior to working with the CCIS Co-op team, I worked at Northeastern’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business Co-op office as an Academic Assistant and then a Data Administrator.

What are the key aspects of your role at Northeastern? What do you enjoy most/find most interesting about what you do?

My role at CCIS entails supporting students both in their preparation to go out on Co-op and during their Co-op at one of our employer partners. This includes resume and interview support to best position our students to land one of our Co-op opportunities and reviewing and commenting on their reflections on guided inquiries based on their co-op experiences. I also engage in job development research, event and operations support for CCIS Co-op programs.

What’s the most compelling thing to you about the research/work that goes on at the College?

I am and have been a longtime admirer of Northeastern’s Co-op program which gives students first hand experiences in their various fields of study. Having seen the benefits of the Co-op program and model both as a student and staffer at Northeastern, it is an honor for me to continue my engagement with the Co-op program at CCIS and support our students fulfill their educational and professional aspirations.

Where did you grow up/spend the most defining years of your child/young adulthood?

I was born and raised in Somalia. I also spent some of my most defining years of my childhood in Ethiopia and Kenya before I moved to the U.S. in 2006.
